KEEP SHAPED

Our body is like a temple. It is the core of all our senses. It is a gift endowed by God to us as a symbol of His generosity and divine might. God is the main source of power for our body to function in its own ways.

Human beings as we are, we seem to forget the value of this divine present by disregarding the fact that it is just lent to us. As a lender, we have to see to it that we have to give extra care in preserving the value of this gift.

However, many become engrossed in gratifying their human desires at the expense of their own temple. Many puff up cigars as a stress relief. They seem to welcome nicotine gradually narrowing down their life span. Some dig in food not minding the threats of heart attack, stroke, hypertension, and other cardiovascular diseases. A number of workaholics bury their heads before the computer monitor and end up to skipping meals, among others. There are many factors to look into, but the common denominator is that, in a way, they forget the undefined price tag of their body.

This blog entry has nothing to do with such didactic reminder from a non-life coach like me. It’s just that we have to be responsible enough in doing our part to look after our body and to preserve our human form. Valuing what God has given to us is a noble responsibility we have to learn by the heart. It is a gesture of showing respect to our Maker, and paying tribute to His masterpiece.

That is, we must come to think of that we’re not the owner of this wonderful temple entrusted to us. Our role, therefore, is to nurture such gift through any possible means we can.

Thus, keep your body in shape. Shape up. Stretch your muscles as you do to your nerves and tissues. Sweat it out. Tone down your vices, or better to forget them. We’re given less than 80 to 100 years to do our part in nurturing such endowment. If we hit it right, that life span is already enough.
