BEFORE OUR VERY EYES
The most fundamental, essential
and life-changing lesson in life is right before our very eyes. Our highest
calling is to truly see ourselves in the image of other people and to reveal something
about ourselves in places significant to us. And, one effective way to do that
is to practice the art of observing until it becomes our second nature to watch
and to learn something about ourselves in front of others.
For instance, when we see
someone effectively performs on stage and perfectly conveys the message through acting, it somehow motivates us to see ourselves on that performer’s shoes. It’s
as if we also like to take ourselves for a try in an acting performance. And,
that’s the power of keen observation. It inexplicably drives us to seeing the
reality beyond our naked eyes can see.
The most challenging part in practicing
the art of keen observation is to filter what we observe. As a keen observer, we should know the difference between what is essential and what is not, universal
right from relative wrong, among others. People always ask, “Why did he
behave like that?” “Why did he do that?” The answer is, “Listen up. Shut up.
Observe. Verify.” Many advantages exist in
observing. In fact, we can discover the person more at our own means, explore places
in our own compass, verify situations considered to be vital in seeking for
knowledge and truth.
From above, our Earth looks like
a huge brilliant blue ball. Our universe is so vast and mysterious extending to
the edge of nowhere. As observers who are beginning to love the act, we are always surprised
how tiny we really are. But at least, through observation, we will somehow know fraction of who we really are, and we will discover what we all have at the end of each day.
Learning the art of keen
observation is not measured “by the numbers.” It’s not how many things we have
discovered firsthand. It’s not how many places we have become familiar about.
It’s not how many people we have skinned out. At the end of the day, the
ultimate benefit of being a keen observer is to know exactly who we are and to
discover where our spot in this world may be.
Learning how to see wonders and
realities everyday is self-fulfilling. By observing, we will be able to see
larger amounts of details about life and death—in the context of dullness,
negative vibes, sadness, stagnation, among others.
Keep observing. It’s our first
step to learn. It’s fun to observe life. It’s true that the more we know, the
more that we don’t know. That is, we have to take a step back a moment from our scope
and realize that we have all the opportunities in this world to add something to our prior
knowledge and to enjoy life in general. We have to cultivate an interest in finding out more about everything
around us. We just have to be patient to wait for a good answer.
Above all, Have Fun!
