FOR TEACHERS WITH LOVE

It is very important to remember this day because it is the day that we have to show our gratitude to our teachers. The world is celebrating the contributions being shared by our teachers. They become instruments to make our dreams realized at some point in our lives. In this matter, it is really a good idea to keep on tracks with regards to the gestures of our teachers in touching the lives of generations of learners.

The future is being touched by teachers. And, it is one of the best privileges teachers have enjoyed so much beyond price. It is touching the part of the future that gives true meaning to the life of the teachers. Being able to touch the future through the lives of these young learners is enough for them to be looked up to.

Despite the goodness that teaching--as a vocation--brings to mankind, many young people are not attracted with these perks of being a teacher. According to the Commission of Higher Education (CHED), Teacher Education in the Philippines has been overly subscribed. It's not that many love the profession. But, it becomes the second and the third choice--particularly for the marginalized. This is one of the effects for the low image projection being pinned to teaching as a profession. Many teachers end up being always in the scenarios to challenge the status quo. For instance, the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year Teacher Efren PeƱaflorida has successfully carried out this challenge worldwide.

Teaching is one of the noblest vocations a person can do in his entire life. It is in imparting knowledge to the young that counts the most in the end. After all, humanity is ultimately being defined as doing things that really matter to others' lives. For in the end, it is the act of sharing and connecting that puts everything into place.

Many good and excellent teachers have been recognized. Other teachers do practice their vocation in silent heroism. Whatever these teachers are into right now, I extend my salutation to all of them who have kept fraction of their lives to touch other people's lives...to touch the future.
