TEN YEARS

Ten years. For all these years, the Surigao State College of Technology's Sadjao Surigao Dance Theater has been delivering exquisite performances and culture-oriented acts. Its latest offer for Surigaonon theater lovers was its very own concert, Diyes, as the culminating activity and the highlight of the Physical Education Festival and National Arts Month.

Diyes, as the word reveals, is a special tribute for the Sadjao Surigao Dance Theater's significant contributions in promoting cultural awareness, valuing Surigao's historical soil and contributing to the city's brand management locally and abroad.

The showcase of talents among SSSCTian performing artists was a way of giving it back to the 'madlang people' for the never-ending support and acceptance. The group is, in a way or another, very thankful for subscribing to their meaningful and character-defining performances.

On the show itself, I have to give a score of 9.5 out of 10. The performers gave out their very best in portraying realities about life through melodic and harmonious patterns, plus the commendable acting performances. The show somehow left the audience bewitched by such dose of realities seen before their very eyes. At the end of the show, as I heard some feedbacks, many had made it real to drive home the message. And, as far as my synapses and dendrites are concerned, I observed that people seemed to want for more after the curtain call.

In my point of view, to sum up the show, it simply called for unity amidst diversity. Whoever we are, whatever what we have achieved, whatever we believe in, there is unity attached to ourselves. And, that's what we have to celebrate.

The Sadjao Surigao Dance Theater has made extraordinary stories for a decade. My sincere commendation to those who have worked hard behind our eyes can see to make the group a training ground for future total performing artists. To those people who have made the show possible, thank you so much for such reality-biting and life-changing acts and performances. Recognition and frustration have come and gone by storms. But, the group still stands firm and remains resilient.

Diyes has certainly opened possibilities that, indeed, there is life in moving to the rhythm of music. It's a cause for celebration.
